About Randy’s Frames

Randy’s Frames are a part of Cindy’s Boutique.  Located at our home in Rockwell City, Iowa Randy’s Frames has been in operation for less than a year.  With the help of their friends at Northland Frames in Dousman, Wisconsin Randy & Cindy have started doing laser cut and engraved picture frames and matting at their home based business.

In our shop we cut and assemble the picture frames, as well as cut the glass and backings for the frames.  We purchase a special metal free 3/8” oak veneer plywood made specifically for our mats thru Northland Frames.  This Oak Veneer is made specifically and exclusively for them.  The reason this is a better wood to use is because the metal flecking found in traditional veneer wood adhesives really plays havoc with the laser as well as causes more unpredictable results in the uniformity of the cut and more soot build up on the edge of the cuts to the mats.  Because of the quality of the materials we use we are able to get better quality results and a nicer finish on our mats.  Compared to our competition you will also find that because of our use of 3/8” stock verse the 1/4” stock commonly used you will have less warping or waves in the laser cut matting allowing us to do more detailed work and as we continue to change our offerings you will see more engraving used to embellish our designs.

Currently our line of designs includes sizes from our Magnets which hold your billfold size school picture to our 11” x 14” Collage Picture Frames.  There are nearly 500 designs available at this time and we are introducing our new “Pop-In’s” Picture Frames very soon in 8” X 10” Collage Frames as well as a 5” X 7”, 5” X 14”, and 5” X 21” size.  These “Pop-In’s” will allow you to personalize your picture frames like never before.  Watch for our introduction of these before the end of July, 2008.  These designs and the “Pop-In’s” name are copyrighted.

The picture frames we offer are available in many sizes and combinations that will hold from 1 – 9 magnet mats as well as we have frames that will hold 2 or 3 5” X 7” picture mats in either horizontal or vertical combinations as well as bi-fold and tri-fold hinged frames.  We also have the 8” X 10” and 11” X 14” picture frames that match the pattern available for our other picture frames.  All are solid oak with a pecan finish.  The 8” X 10” picture Frames come with an easel back that will stand or hang horizontal or vertical.  The 11” X 14” will hang horizontal or vertical as will the frames for 2 or 3 5” X 7” mats.  The magnet frames, 1 – 9 openings will hang on your wall or are also drilled to hold a peg we provide so they will set on your end table or desk.

Special Orders are welcome, some additional fees may be necessary if it is a design we do not think we can sell more than the one piece but please don’t let that stop you from asking.  If we can be of service we are happy to give it a go.  Regarding the name frame mats, available in Magnet, Biggie Magnet, 5” X 7” or 8” X 10” sizes, we are happy to make any name spelling you may have.  Sorry, only one name per mat and these are only available in the Portrait (tall) layout.

Randy, who is legally blind, and has been doing some design work on his computer for the past several years with the help of some sight adaptive equipment has been able to step in and with the some of the same software he was using with the embroidery machine, CorelDraw, has been able to start designing some of his own designs.  The rest of the designs available are all copyrighted and owned by Northland Frames and are used with their permission.  We would also like to thank them for their training and cooperation in helping us get started up including the use of their laser.  Randy has previously owned and operated an arts & crafts shop where he did custom framing and matting for several years.
