The Cherry Pit Heating Pad is filled with cherry pits that have been dried, cleaned, and sanitized. Cherry pits are like wooden peas, they are not a grain that will mold or mildew and they are not going to be an inviting treat for rodents, insects or pets. The fabric can be spot washed if dirty and can be placed in the washing machine on gentle cycle (place in a pillow case in case the machine agitation accidently tears the fabric) follow instructions on sheet you receive with your Cherry Pit Heating Pad. One of our customers told us she washes her cherry pit heating pad in the dishwasher and then dries it by running it through a couple of cycles in the microwave. We have not tried this yet but do not see why it would not work. Easy to clean, these re-useable heating/cooling packs are much safer than electric heating pads or bags of ice.
